A Space for A Small Boy

Whilst camping last year we discovered that Tink loves to fly a kite.He really did fly his kite for hours, happily staring up at the colourful shape bobbing, twisting and twirling in the air. The campsite was fully of strangers (other campers)  who he obviously found challenging to deal with especially the ones his own size, making him frustrated and angry. This sky blue space he discovered would deliver him to calm. When a child deals with as many anxieties and stresses as Tink does it’s great to discover a space that brings them inner peace.

Ah, the simple pleasures in life! Nothing like gazing at a clear sky and horizon to help lift the spirits and a kite is probably one of the best metaphor for freedom and light-heartedness. So glad this helped Tink, and I hope it will continue to be something for the family ‘tool-box’ of Theraplay style games…

Yes he flew his kite this year when he didn’t get on with the kids at the caravan site we stayed at. First thing we packed for him. I’m collating a list of activities which help him find peace.

My eldest also loves to fly a kite and she certainly finds it relaxing too. She often says she would like to be a kite, in fact!

Lovely to read how the simple pleasure of a kite can bring peace and happiness.
