The Visitor

I say it will be fine

In my head and in my mind,

I won’t get stressed, but I do.

I say it will be easy,

Laid back relaxed and breezy,

I won’t get stressed, but I do.

I hope it doesn’t matter,

The house all full of clutter,

I won’t get stressed, but I do.

I hope you say out loud

That you love and feel so proud,

I won’t get stressed, but I do.

I wonder if for you

The apprehension is there too,

I won’t get stressed, but I do.

You walk through my door,

The anxiety is no more,

I needn’t have got stressed because it’s you.

I’ve linked up again with Prose 4 Thought….

Prose for Thought

A poem I can really associate with having been in a bad relationship and expecting the same from a new one. Shows its not easy being a Mum either. Fantastic :)

It’s actually about my dad, but I didn’t say because I knew it could be read lots of ways for different people. Thanks for hosting again and giving me the opportunity to publish poems. x

This is a lovely linky and your words lovely too – powerful, evocative – and could really empathise with the relief at the end.

I love this, both the theme and the style of the poem. Especially the positive twist at the end!
